About 250 mourners, including former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, his wife Patti and their two daughters, attended an emotional funeral service this morning for his close confidant Christopher Kelly.
Charles Kelly said his brother cared most about his family. That family, he said, was prouder than ever of him, "in every aspect of his life."
"Chris is at peace, nothing more, nothing less," he said.
Ousted Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich plans to attend a funeral for his former chief fundraiser who authorities say died of a suspected overdose.
Services for 51-year-old Christopher Kelly are planned Wednesday at a church in the Chicago suburb of Western Springs. Kelly died Saturday, less than a week before he was due to enter prison to begin serving a three-year sentence for tax fraud.
Blagojevich’s publicist says the former governor and his wife plan to attend the funeral.
The former governor is due to go on trial on corruption charges in June. He is accused of trying to sell or trade President Barack Obama’s former U.S. Senate seat. Blagojevich denies any wrongdoing.
