Rod Blagojevich's Indictment Voted "#2 Illinois Story of the Decade" by the Associated Press 

When the decade opened, Barack Obama was serving in the Illinois Senate before moving on to the U.S. Senate. His history-making election as president of the United States in 2008 was chosen as the top Illinois story of the decade by The Associated Press.

The No. 2 story was the indictment of ousted former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich in 2008 on charges he allegedly tried to sell Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat to the highest bidder.
